What actually happens inside your skin?
Your skin is made up of layers. The outermost layer — the epidermis — is what you see. But skin quality, firmness, and aging are mostly determined by what happens in the dermis underneath, where collagen and elastin live.
The dermis contains fibroblasts, the cells responsible for producing collagen. Fibroblast activity is understood to slow with age. Collagen support peptide injections are designed to deliver signals into the dermis, collagen-stimulating peptides such as GHK-Cu and Matrixyl are understood to interact with fibroblast receptors in ways associated with collagen production.

Peptides such as Melanostatine are used in some programmes intended to support more even pigment distribution. The neck and hands are often left out of treatment planning, even though they show visible signs of aging just as the face does. Peptide programmes used on the face can, in principle, be applied to other areas where fibroblasts are present and skin has thinned or lost firmness.
